9 people have been killed and 21 others injured in bus crash in central Spain.
It is believed the bus overturned near the city of Ávila trapping some of the passengers inside. It was carrying 30 people.
Local news reports say the bus rolled over after travelling at excessive speed on a bend along the N403 highway. Paramedic crews who arrived on the scene rescued several passengers who had become trapped in the wreckage.
The commuter bus, from a local company called Cevesa, was serving the route Serranillos-Ávila, from South to the North of the province of Ávila.
The families of the victims have been taken to the Carlos Sastre Sports Centre in Ávila where a team of social workers and psychologists are providing medical attention and support.
It is believed the majority of those hurt and killed were sitting in the back of the bus which was the area most affected by the impact.
So far the nationalities of the victims are unknown but early indications say the passengers are from the villages located along the bus route. The Department of Foreign Affairs was not immediately available for comment.
