A new five-part Irish language music show featuring Villagers, Mary Wallopers and a host of other top acts is airing on TG4 this summer.
Night and Day; ó Dhubh go Dubh was filmed at last year’s Night and Day Festival in at Clonalis House County Roscommon last year.
The Autumn Equinox weekend event featured brilliant music and cultural acts in a family-friendly environment that drew crowds from all over the country.
Hosted by Kayte O’Malley and Cian Ó Maonlaí, the new TG4 series features headline performances from the 'Queen Medb Stage' and backstage interviews with artists, as well as all the craic and colour of the festival.
TG4 commissioned the programme with the aim of breaking new talent both on and off-screen.
The series kicks off with an emphatic performance from Villagers and features vibrant trad-fusion band Moxie as well as a masterclass from festival favourites Soda Blonde.
Later episodes include an amazing performance from Houseplants, the joint musical endeavour from Bell X1’s Paul Noonan and electronica artist Dáithi, as well as welly-stomping performances from the Mary Wallopers, Cathy Davy, Amy Montgomery and Orla Gartland.
Festival spokesman Craig Hughes said: “Last year was a really special event for us, seeing something that we dreamed about for so long coming together.”
“We’re so happy that Red Shoe Productions and TG4 were there to capture it all and to share the experience with the nation.
“We’re excited to showcase our festival on TG4, which has been a consistent supporter of the arts, and look forward to welcoming some of the audience to the second part of the adventure in our new location at the end of June.”
Night and Day Festival is now entering its second year and is due to take place in Lough Key Forest Park on June 24th and 25th.
The festival continues to highlight the best Irish talent while also providing lots of family-friendly fun.
This year’s line-up includes the likes of David Keenan, Wallis Bird, Mercury Rev and Pillow Queens alongside a host of other top names.
The first episode of Night and Day; ó Dhubh go Dubh airs on TG4 on Sunday, June 18th at 10:30pm.
All episodes will be available worldwide on-demand on the TG4 Player.
