Newstalk has announced the return of 100 Days of Walking, starting on January 1st 2020.

Lunchtime Live presenter Ciara Kelly is calling on all listeners to take up the challenge of walking for just thirty minutes a day for 100 days.

This year Newstalk are delighted to welcome sponsor John West on board.

This is the third year running that Ciara has led this initiative and is encouraging her listeners to get involved.

Register for the challenge here and after 100 days you will have walked for a total of 50 hours!

Dr Kelly said: "What I love about this is it's such a simple idea. Just walk as fast or as slow as you like, for at least thirty minutes a day, for 100 days.

"Everyone can do it - old, young, fit, unfit, all shapes and sizes.

"Literally just put one foot in front of the other and walk into the new year feeling good!"

John West General Manager Peter Rooney said: "100 Days Of Walking has brought people together on a journey all over Ireland, creating a new health-conscious community that we, as natural protein experts, are delighted to help to grow in 2020.

"Natural fuel is important in order to fully reap the benefits of daily walking - in particular, fish, which is a key source of omega-3 fats, vitamins and natural protein," said Sarah Keogh, John West nutrition consultant.

"Like regular walking, the benefits of eating fish is well known, but you may be surprised at just how much it has to offer.

"It is one of the best foods to include when you are working towards a healthier way of eating. It is rich in protein, has a range of essential minerals, and is one of the best places to get the omega-3 fats EPA and DHA."

To celebrate the announcement, Newstalk are giving all participants the chance to win a two-night break at the Cliff at Lyons hotel in Kildare, which includes a three-course dinner on the night of choice.

To be in with a chance to win, simply register for 100 Days of Walking.

Walkers are encouraged to use their social channels and come along to Newstalk's three walking events throughout the challenge.

Details of these events will be released on Newstalk.com or check on #100DaysofWalking to keep up to date.
