Reporter with LMFM Marc O'Driscoll told Newstalk Breakfast the location of the incident is not being released.

"We understand the infant, who's believed to be a nine-week-old girl, suffered serious injuries at an undisclosed location in the county.

"They were admitted to hospital on Tuesday.

"It's Gardaí in Drogheda who are leading the investigation, they say at the moment they're investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"I understand senior Gardaí have held a case conference at Drogheda Garda station.

"But as of right now, no arrests have been made".

He said one line of inquiry Gardaí are following is that the child's injuries were not inflicted accidentally.
