A woman has denounced X's Grok as “highly dangerous” after realising how simple it is to create provocative images.
The AI tool on Elon Musk’s platform social media platform has made headlines around the world after users realised it could create sexually suggested non-consensual deepfake images.
Irish Daily Mail columnist Lisa Brady told Lunchtime Live that she was curious to understand more about the technology and said she was surprised how simple it was to have her own images changed.
“Sure enough, I uploaded a picture of myself just headshot style,” she recalled.
“I just had like a black pole neck on and I just entered a simple request, and that was to make it more provocative.
“Fast forward, you know, not quite 60 seconds later, there was not just an image, but a video of me, you know, quite suggestively flicking my hair in a low cut top and this bizarre accent.”

She continued that while the name of the app, Grok, sounds “playful, like a toy”, the reality of it is anything but.
Of particular concern to Ms Brady is Grok’s ‘spice mode’ that users can also pay for.
“I'm horrified to even consider what would happen had I gone down that route,” she said.
Children's images
At one point Grok asked her for permission to access photos on her phone - many of which are of her children.
“It just made me think, what are we getting into here?” she said.
“And it's so dangerous and toxic - and I would actually argue that it's widespread abuse.”
Overall, Ms Brady feels the app is “highly dangerous”.
AI Minister Niamh Symth has demanded a meeting with X over Grok's deepfakes and also urged people to boycott the site.
While the British Government has said it has not ruled out banning the platform entirely.
In a statement, X said, “We take action against illegal content on X, including Child Sexual Abuse Material, by removing it, permanently suspending accounts, and working with local governments and law enforcement as necessary.”
The platform added that people who use Grok to create illegal AI images would “suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content”.
