Donald Trump is expected to become only the third US President to be impeached later.

Democrats will vote to put him on trial, although the Republican-controlled senate is unlikely to convict him.

Mr Trump denies abusing his power by pressing Ukraine's leader to announce investigations that would damage political rival Joe Biden.

A woman has died after an alleged assault in Co Wicklow at the weekend.

Nadine Lott, who was in her 30s, passed away in hospital yesterday after an incident in an apartment in Arklow on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination is taking place, and gardaí say the results will determine the course of the investigation.

A 32-year-old man was charged in connection with the incident on Monday.

The scene of the latest west Dublin shooting remains sealed off this morning.

A man in 20s was seriously injured after he was shot by a lone gunman at Shancastle Park in Clondalkin at around 9pm last night.

He is being treated at Blanchardstown Hospital for injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

The attacker fled the scene on foot and gardaí are appealing for information.

Four new local electoral areas have been designated as Rent Pressure Zones from today.

Rents in Baltinglass in Wicklow, Piltown in Kilkenny, Sligo-Strandhill and Cobh in Cork will now only be able to go up by 4% a year.

It brings to 25 the number of areas brought under RPZ rules this year.

The Irish Medical Organisation is urging the Government to begin talks to prevent thousands of staff going on strike after Christmas.

94% of its consultants and non-consultant hospital doctors have voted for industrial action.

It is in a dispute over pay parity, and it's the first time staff at this level have ever opted for a work-to-rule.
