The sale of Volkswagen diesel cars has been banned in Switzerland.

The move was taken after the firm admitted cheating on emissions tests in the US.

180,000 vehicles - not yet sold or registered - could be affected.

Yesterday Volkswagen appointed Matthias Mueller as their new CEO - he takes over from Martin Winterkorn, who resigned on Wednesday.

FIFA is said to be in "disarray" after Swiss authorities opened criminal proceedings against outgoing president Sepp Blatter.

He currently remains in charge of world football's governing body.

One of the allegations involves claims he made a "disloyal payment" of over £1.3 million to UEFA boss Michel Platini - who's in the running to succeed Blatter.

Pro Choice Campaigners are taking to the streets of Dublin city today calling for changes to abortion laws here.

The 4th Annual March for Choice is being organised by the Abortion Rights Campaign.

Organisers of the demonstration are asking participants to bring wheelie suitcases with them, to highlight the number of women who travel abroad from Ireland to access terminations.

The march starts at the Garden of Remembrance at 2pm this afternoon.

Four homeless people have died in Dublin over the past six weeks.

The figures come as the the body of a homeless man, who was in his 30s, was discovered in Dublin close to where Jonathan Corrie was found dead last year.

The man was found by a member of the public on Dawson lane just off Dawson Street at approximately 7 o'clock yesterday morning where it is believed he had been sleeping rough for some time.

Gardaí say no foul play is suspected.

Pope Francis continues his tour of America later - leaving for Philadelphia with as many as a million people expected for the final Mass on Sunday.

In New York, huge crowds gathered in Central Park to see him yesterday - especially at Ground Zero.

The pontiff also held a special mass for thousands at Madison Square Garden last night.
