Support for Independent candidates has reached its highest level since 2011, according to this morning's latest opinion poll.

At 31%, it is the highest gain for them in four years from 14% support.

It is good news for Renua and the Social Democrats - both parties are included in the ‘independents’ block in the Sunday Times / Behaviour & Attitudes poll.

Sinn Féin says it is disappointed with the report due to be released by the Low Pay Commission this week.

It is thought that the task force will recommend an increase of 50 cent to the current minimum wage of €8.65.

Sinn Féin says that this increase is not enough, and will only amount to €19.50 extra to a 39 hour week for an employee on minimum wage.

The report from the Low Pay Commission is due to be released on Tuesday.

Over 80,000 people are expected to turn out to witness the Bray Air Display in Co Wicklow this afternoon.

The Irish Air Corps and the Swiss Air Force will be among the aircraft taking to the skies.

Organisers are reminding people of the earlier start time of 2pm, and are advising the use of public transport.

Agnes Brown lookalikes will be flocking to north Dublin today.

A world record attempt, for the most people dressed up as Mrs Brown in one place, is happening at Finglas Village Centre from 1pm.

Participants must at least be wearing Mrs Brown's iconic dress, such as her apron, scarf and rollers.

The event is part of Finglas Fest, which is taking place in the hometown of the star and creator of Mrs Brown's Boys, Brendan O'Carroll.

Ku Klux Klan members and Black rights' activists have held rival protests in South Carolina.

The groups gathered as the Confederate flag was removed from the grounds of the State House yesterday.

The flag has become the subject of renewed controversy since its link to the gunman in a recent attack on a black church in Charleston.

The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, which claims to be "the largest Klan in America", says around 200 of their members were involved in yesterday's rally.
