One person has been killed in a car crash in Kildare overnight.
The single vehicle collision is believed to have taken place on the Kildangan to Athy road at around 9pm.
Gardaí are carrying out a forensic exam this morning and part of the road remains closed.

A gunman who went on a shooting spree in a cinema in Colorado three years ago - killing 12 people and wounding 70 others - has been spared the death penalty.
Jurors failed to reach a unanimous decision on James Holmes's sentence.
He will now spend the rest of his life in prison with no possibility of parole.

Michael D Higgins has praised the efforts of the Defence Forces for their rescue work in the Mediterranean this week.
The LE Niamh rescued over 360 people on Wednesday, after their vessel capsized off the Libyan coast.
President Higgins said Europe's response to the migrant crisis was shameful, but he praised the work of the Irish government in its new commitments.
Meanwhile, five North African men remain in custody in Italy on suspicion of multiple homicide and human trafficking following the incident.

Ireland's credit rating has been revised from stable to positive, by the credit ratings agency Fitch.
The rating has been adjusted to reflect a 'strengthening recovery in domestic demand' and 'favourable financing conditions' in the Irish economy.
The report also noted a decline in possible risks from the banking sector since its last review long, with a decrease in Ireland's budget deficit to below 3% of GDP in 2015.

Gardaí say nobody was injured following a four hour barricade in Tralee in County Kerry yesterday.
At around 4 o'clock a woman, who was carrying several knives, entered a Halal shop on Castle Street and blocked herself into the rear of the premises.
Gardaí were alerted and all staff were evacuated from the scene.
During the barricade, two Garda negotiators spoke to the woman, who is in her early 30s and is understood to be from North Cork.
Shortly after 8 o'clock the woman was transferred to an ambulance unharmed.
