It's widely expected that the country's top public health doctors will today recommend moving to 'phase two' of lifting COVID-19 restrictions next Monday.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) meets this morning to discuss the roadmap for reopening the country, along with whether playgrounds can reopen and summer camps can go ahead earlier than planned.

They will make their recommendations to the Cabinet, who will then make a decision tomorrow.

Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and the Greens will hold further meetings with Independent TDs today about the possibility of entering government.

Negotiations on a programme for government will also continue later, with a deal likely to come next week.

Michael McNamara, Marian Harkin and Michael Fitzmaurice were yesterday told they could get deals for their respective constituencies if they supported the new government.

It's understood this would be the arrangement rather than the promise of ministerial posts.

Today the three parties will meet with the regional group of Independents to discuss the same thing.
