The British Prime Minister Theresa May says MPs have a duty to reach a united way forward on Brexit and "get it done."

She met with opposition parties after winning a vote of no confidence in the House of Commons on Wednesday night.

But UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says he is not willing to sit down for talks until she rules out a no-deal Brexit.

A major new scientific report says the world needs to reduce consumption of red meat and sugar by 50% by 2050.

The study by the EAT-Lancet Commission says a radical change to the world's diet is needed to tackle climate change, and improve global health.

It insists that not only would people be healthier, but it would also reduce the damaging effects of climate change, soil erosion, deforestation and loss of biodiversity.

Changes to the Leaving Certificate grading system have widened the achievement gap between disadvantaged and other schools.

New research from the ESRI shows an increase in students taking higher level subjects since the system was revised in 2017.

But it has led to more students getting lower grades - and there has been no rise in higher level take up in DEIS schools.

Motorists who travel to Northern Ireland and Britain may in future have to present Green Cards to prove they have valid motor insurance.

The measure is being rolled out by the Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) as a contingency plan in the event of a no deal Brexit.

Currently, all motorists travelling with an Irish registration in the EU are covered - however that could change for those looking to enter the UK from March, when they are expected to leave the bloc.

A new initiative is being launched aimed at highlighting the impact parental alcohol misuse has on children.

The project called 'Silent Voices' will look at promoting understanding of the issue as well as providing supports for those affected.

Alcohol Action Ireland, who are behind the initiative, estimate that around 400,000 Irish adults were raised in alcohol-impacted families.
