A man in his 20s has died in a crash in County Louth.

Gardaí say the single vehicle collision happened at 10.30pm last night at Carstown, Termonfeckin.

A second man in his late teens who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with minor injuries.

Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump is facing criticism after appearing to hint at the assassination of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for a second time.

Speaking at a rally in Miami, Mr Trump called for Mrs Clinton's bodyguards to give up their guns and "see what happens to her".

He told supporters his rival wanted to "destroy the second amendment" - referring to the right to own guns.

There are calls for pay increases for new entrants across the public sector.

It comes after the government reached an agreement with the TUI and INTO to increase the salary of new teachers who've qualified since 2012.

But Sinn Féin says it's not fair that those who have entered other areas of the public sector in recent years are not entitled to the same pay increases.

A national demonstration against water charges is taking place in Dublin this afternoon.

Groups from around the country are convening at Connolly and Heuston stations at half past one, to take part in a protest march to St Stephen's Green.

Organisers are expecting tens of thousands to take to the streets of the capital in support of the complete abolition of the charges.

Dublin Bus says services are operating as normal this morning.

It follows a 48 hour work stoppage by drivers in a dispute over pay.

A further 15 strike days are planned for the coming weeks.
