Action by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is stepping up a gear.

It is planning a national rally next Saturday.

It comes after it announced two further strike dates on the 19th and 21st of this month, in its bid for more staffing levels and better pay.

British Prime Minister Theresa May says she will be "battling for Britain" when she returns to Brussels to try and secure a new EU withdrawal agreement.

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, she reiterated her support for "no hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland."

EU leaders have said they will not renegotiate the deal.

A meeting of actors, other workers and the Abbey Theatre in Dublin has been described as 'a positive and productive first step.'

A group representing those who signed an open letter to the Culture Minister Josepha Madigan has met management.

Both sides have agreed a process of bilateral meetings to deal with the issues raised in the open letter about the Abbey.

It is reported that the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has agreed to call fresh elections.

It comes as pressure mounts on the embattled leader both at home and internationally.

More than 40 mummies discovered in an Egyptian tomb last year have been revealed by archaeologists for the first time.

They were found in an underground chamber around 240 kilometres away from Cairo and are believed to be around 2,000 years old.

Twelve children are among the remains, all thought to be several generations of the same family.
