Ireland is among more than 160 countries expected to sign up to the world's first comprehensive deal to tackle climate change at a ceremony in New York later.
The Paris Agreement was secured at United Nations talks in the French capital in December.
Under the deal the rise in global temperatures is limited to well below two degrees.

Talks between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil on the facilitation of a minority Government will focus on water charges when they resume later.

US President Barack Obama has arrived in the UK as part of a planned three-day visit.
During his stay, he is expected to give his views on the UK's forthcoming EU referendum, and advise voters to remain in the European Union.
Writing in The Daily Telegraph, Mr Obama said the sacrifice of his country's soldiers during the Second World War means America has a stake in the referendum debate.

The sister of pop star Prince has thanked fans outside his home in the US state of Minnesota after dozens of people turned up to pay tribute to him.
It was announced that the 57-year-old had died there yesterday.
The cause of the singer's death remains unclear, and an autopsy will be carried out later today.
