It's the final day of the general election campaign, with parties making the last pitches for votes.

Polling centres will open in just over 24 hours - although people on some islands will be casting their ballots today.

The broadcast moratorium comes into effect at 2 pm today, while many politicians believe lots of people are genuinely still undecided ahead of election day tomorrow.

Over 226,000 young people will be eligible to vote for the first time tomorrow.

The National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) is encouraging them to use the opportunity to have their say.

In total 603,987 Irish and UK citizens aged 18-29 will be entitled to vote in the election.

The Department of Health says there were 15 suspected cases of coronavirus in Ireland up to the beginning of this week - however, none of the cases tested positive.

All of the people had recently travelled from mainland China and had symptoms of the virus, which has now killed 636 people.

The Department of Health says the tests were carried out at the National Virus Reference Laboratory, but there has been no confirmed case of the coronavirus here to date.

Three men are in Garda custody following seizures of drugs, cash and a fake gun in Dublin.

The discovery was made during searches of seven flats in the Hardwick Street area.

Cannabis herb worth €40,000 and €3,000 worth of cocaine was seized.

A fake gun and €4,500 in cash were also discovered.

Students and young people will descend on Dublin later calling for climate action, as part of the global Fridays for Future demonstrations.

However, gardaí have not approved the protest over health and safety concerns - due to issues with previous demonstrations.

Organisers say the rally will go ahead as planned.
