EU leaders have agreed an action plan with Turkey, aimed at easing the flow of refugees to Europe.

The Turkish President will cooperate on improving the lives of two million Syrians in Turkey, and encourage them to stay put.

In return, the European Union's offering easier travel for Turkish citizens to the EU, and Turkey's membership of the EU will be considered again.

A man (52) is due to appear at a special court sitting this morning, charged in connection with the murder of an elderly woman decades ago.

Ann Nancy Smyth (79) was found dead in her home in Kilkenny by fire services in 1987, almost 30 years ago.

Firefighters were responding to a blaze when they came across her body.

The Tánaiste has proposed the establishment of a rent regulator.

It comes as the Environment Minister Alan Kelly and the Finance Minister Michael Noonan try to agree on how best to tackle the housing crisis.

Minister Kelly wants to link rent to inflation, but Tánaiste Joan Burton has suggested a rent regulator with powers to influence the size of rents instead.

Families of the Lockerbie bombing victims are welcoming the news that two new suspects have been identified.

Detectives think the men - from Libya - were involved in the 1988 attack on Pan Am flight 103, along with Abdel Baset al Megrahi.

The families are now waiting to see if the Libyan government co-operates.
