An update on testing and residential care facilities is expected later as part of the HSE's weekly briefing on COVID-19.

It comes as the death toll has reached 1,286, after a further 25 were announced on Saturday.

There are 343 new confirmed cases here, with the total number of positive tests reaching 21,176.

A man in his 30s has been arrested following an assault in Dublin.

It happened at an apartment complex in the Kilmore Road area of Artane shortly before midnight.

The victim, a man in his 50s, received head injuries in the attack and is being treated in Beaumont Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Two men have been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in Co Louth.

It is after two men forced their way into a house in the Dublin Road area of Dundalk at around 1.00am this morning.

They attacked a 17-year-old boy inside, who required hospital treatment, and then fled the scene with a sum of cash and other items.

The Irish Hotels Federation is calling for a permanent reduction in the tourism VAT rate.

It says the measures announced in the Government's support package for businesses fall short.

At the moment around 85% of hotels across the country are closed, with many people laid off or on part-time hours.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says doctors prepared to announce his death as he battled coronavirus in intensive care.

He told the Sun On Sunday he had "litres and litres of oxygen" for a long time.

He also said he did not want to go into hospital, but that doctors were "pretty adamant".
