An easing of COVID-19 restrictions for children could be introduced early next month.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) is working with several Government departments to examine how some measures could be lifted for under-18s in phase two.

A further 11 people died here on Friday, bringing the death toll to 1,592 - and 115 new cases were also confirmed.

Some Government ministers are calling for a reduction in physical distancing rules.

It is understood 'robust' discussions were held at Cabinet on Friday about changing the advice from two metres to one to help the hospitality sector.

Current World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines state keeping a one metre distance from each other is sufficient.

Quarantining people after getting off a plane is "bonkers", according to the Ryanair boss.

From Thursday, it will be a legal requirement here for people to fill in a form stating where they will be self-isolating.

People who break the rules face up to six months in prison or a €2,500 fine.

Rescue officials in Pakistan say 97 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage of a plane crash.

The PIA aircraft came down on to a crowded residential district of the city of Karachi on Friday.

At least two people have survived.

US President Donald Trump says churches, synagogues and mosques should re-open this weekend.

He says it is unfair that in some states off-licences are classified as providing essential services, while places of worship are not.

He does not have the authority to action the move himself, but says he will "override" state governors if they do not.
