The British Government expects the return of a hard border in Ireland in the event of a 'No Deal' Brexit.

Official documents leaked to The Sunday Times show Downing Street believes current plans for avoiding a hard border will prove “unsustainable.”

It warns that the return of border could spark protest, road blockages and “direct action.”

The paper also warns that Britain will face shortages of fuel, food and medicine and a three-month meltdown at its ports if it leaves without a deal.

A UK Government source told the paper that the scenarios are not worst-case – but are “likely, basic and reasonable” results of failure to ratify a deal.

Meanwhile, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will tell his European counterparts this week that the British Parliament cannot stop a no-deal Brexit.

British MPs are continuing to discuss ways to oust Mr Johnson and put in place a time-limited Government to prevent the UK crashing out.

More than 100 MPs have sent him a letter calling on him to immediately recall Parliament and let it sit permanently until the UKs scheduled departure date of October 31st.

Mr Johnson is due to meet the leaders of France and Germany this week and is expected to repeat his demand for a new withdrawal agreement.

A suicide bomber has murdered 63 people and injured over 180 others at a wedding in the Afghan capital of Kabul.

Hundreds of people were inside the wedding venue when the explosion ripped through it.

The venue is in a minority Shi'ite neighbourhood in the west of the city and guests said around 1,200 people were invited.

The Taliban has denied responsibility for the attack – but Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said the organisation provides a platform for terrorists and cannot absolve itself of blame.

Tens of thousands of protesters have gathered in Hong Kong’s Victoria Park for a major anti-Government rally.

The demonstration is led by the human rights group that organised marches that attracted more than a million people in June.

Demonstrations largely passed peacefully yesterday after a public and international backlash against violent scenes at the airport earlier in the week.

Medical tents have been set up in the centre of the city today amid concerns about potential violence.

Kilkenny and Tipperary are preparing to battle it out in the decider at Croke Park.

Long delays are expected in the Drumcondra area and traffic restrictions will be in place in the city centre for the match.

Delays are also expected on routes into the city with large volumes of traffic expected on the M7 and M9.
