More budget advice for Government - Institute advises easing off on austerity

The Government is being told that it can achieve economic targets with an austerity budget of just €800 million - and that it could also include an economic stimulus to create thousands of jobs.

The advice from the Nevin Economic Research Institute flies in the face of the Troika and others who say a €2 billion correction is needed.

The Institute says those bodies are party poopers for being ultra cautious.

Dr Tom McDonnell from NERI says the Government can't go ahead with the planned austerity:

The Institute also says there is room for at least a €1 billion stimulus package next year.
