50 Cent unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy earlier this month, in a move that was designed to shift some of his investments around and hopefully cut down on his bills from a legal case in which he was involved.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, had been ordered to pay $5 million in damages to Lastonia Leviston, as a result of case in which the rapper had allegedly leaked a sex tape featuring Lewiston back in 2009.

However, Jackson's financial moves didn't pay off, as the court ordered that he now had to pay an extra $2 million, hitting him with a pretty whopping $7 million bill for punitive damages, much more than the $700,000 that his legal team had offered.

The jury in the case, which appeared before a court in Manhattan, didn't buy the rapper's claims that he was bankrupt, which probably weren't helped by a string of appearances in the media talking about his predicament, including a spot on Conan O'Brien's popular talk show, in which he stated that he was moving things around as he had become a target for lawsuits.

Jackson appeared before the court on Tuesday, and tried to tell the jury that his lavish hip-hop lifestyle was a mirage, but one member of the jury stated that they were not convinced by his pleas, saying that he didn't seem to take it seriously: "He was winking at one of us, and then he just ran out of the courtroom. That wasn't necessary."

Juror Sylvia Rodriguez couldn't resist a quick pun when she spoke to the New York Daily News, saying "He has it. He's 50 Cent. You know he has more than 50 cents".

His lawyers stated that they were disappointed with the result, but they will be appealing and believe that they will be able to reduce the amount of the settlement.
