Monday will start off rather cloudy and breezy, with outbreaks of rain moving into Ulster and Connacht and some heavy bursts locally.
That band of rain will then gradually move down to the rest of Ireland into the afternoon, but will tend to fragment with just scattered falls elsewhere.
Some sunny spells will follow later across the west and north.
Relatively mild for early January, with highest temperatures of 9C to 11C degrees – but turning cooler later.

Cold and calm with some frost under longer clearer spells.
The odd spot of light rain or drizzle is possible, but overall it will be dry.
