A 19-year-old man has been killed in an workplace accident in Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan.

It is understood the young man was fatally injured at 9.00am this morning in an industrial accident at a farm near Castleross.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he later died from his injuries.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have been notified.

The HSA and the gardaí have launched two separate investigations into the incident.
