Former OC star Mischa Barton will be appearing live on Moncrieff tomorrow alongside Neighbours star Anne Charleston, to promote the play Steel Magnolias. Listen to them live from 4pm, Thursday 12th July.

While many associate Barton as a Hollywood star, she was actually born in London.  Her mother is from Ireland and Barton often refers to herself as an “English-Irish girl”, despite being raised in America.

Mischa Barton began acting at the age of 8 in the New York play ‘The Slavs’ despite being more known for her role on the hit show Orange County. At thirteen she began to star in films, with a small role in big blockbuster movies such as Nothing Hill and The Sixth Sense.

Mischa Barton found fame at the age of 17 when she took on the role of troubled character Marissa Cooper on The OC in 2003. The teen drama based on rich teenagers in  California was an international success. As a result Barton won several teen Nickeldeon awards, voted “It Girl” 2003 by Entertainment Weekly and “The Next Big Thing” by the magazine Glamour.

She left after the third season of The OC went on to act in films such as St Trinians, Homecoming and Don’t Fade Away.

Mischa has become famous also for modelling as well as a creating her own bag line collection for ASOS in 2008. She then went on to continue a line of headbands and now designs her own line of clothes, accessories, cosmetics and  bath products on her own website Mischa’s Place.

Steel Magnolias will open at the Gaiety in Dublin in September. Mischa Barton and Anne Charleston (Madge from Neighbours) will then go on to tour with the play around the rest of the country.
