Gardaí investigating the murder a 35-year-old in County Cork last year have made a fifth arrest.

Mikolaj Wilk died after a brutal attack at his home in Ballincollig on June 10th 2018.

He was taken by emergency services to Cork University Hospital where he died of his injuries.

This morning, Gardaí confirmed that they arrested a fifth person in connection with their investigation yesterday evening.

The 30-year-old man is being held at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

The arrest came shortly after another man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and taken to Togher Garda Station.

Mr Wilk’s partner, who is in her early 30s, was also at home during the attack and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries in hospital.

The couple’s two young children and another woman in her early 30s were also in the house. They were not injured.

Three men were arrested in Ballincollig last January following a series of Garda searches.

They were released without charge and Gardaí said a file was being prepared for the DPP.

Gardaí said their investigations are ongoing.
