The Finance Minister has launched attacks on Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil over their election promises.
Michael Noonan says Fianna Fáil has a "black hole of Calcutta" of nearly €1.25bn in its election manifesto.
He has also accused Sinn Féin's finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty of taking grinds at the "Gerry Adams school of maths".
Minister Noonan says Sinn Féin will hit average workers with tax hikes.
"The nastiest little change of all - and it's not even little - [is that] the tax credit for contributions will move from the marginal or higher rate of tax down to the standard rate," he explained.
"What that means is that if you're the doctor, nurse, guard or private sector worker paying say 10% of a pension contribution on €40,000 - low money - that will cost you €800 a year," he explained.
Responding to the criticisms, Pearse Doherty has challenged the Finance Minister to publish costings on Fine Gael's plans to abolish the Universal Social Charge.
“Michael Noonan can bluster all he wants, but the reality is that he is wrong on his figures and he knows it. If he is confident in his figures, he should publish his costings from the Department of Finance on a phased out abolition of the USC," Mr Doherty said.
"It is no wonder Fine Gael’s election campaign has nose-dived. Michael Noonan is the reason for this. He has been a disaster in this campaign right from the very beginning," he added.
