A man is in custody this morning, after a media blackout was lifted in County Monaghan.

Gardaí were called to a rural area outside Clontibret yesterday, after concern was raised for the safety of a man in his 30s.

The force initiated its Operational Command protocol and local Garda negotiators attended the scene at a house.

An On-Scene Commander was appointed and a number of other Garda Units also helped.

An adult man has since been arrested and he can be questioned for up to three days.

The scene was sealed off last night and investigations are ongoing this morning.
