There were more than 4,800 requests for help from men last year to a support group for victims of domestic abuse.
According to the annual report for AMEN, more than 2,200 men reached out to the group during 2013. This represents a slight drop of 400 requests last year, compared to 2012.
1,694 new people contacted the service, 613 new male clients availed of support and assistance from the organisation while 2,048 disclosures of physical abuse were made.
201 individuals fell within the 40-50 year old age group, 9 individuals were 70 years or over.
