A man has been shot dead in Dublin this evening.
/> The attack happened on the South Circular Road close to Griffith College at around 8pm.
It is understood the man aged in his 30s was shot a number of times in the neck and head.
He was taken to St. James’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
AÂ motive for the killing is still unknown.
However it is believed to be gangland related.
Gardaí say a dark car was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.
Shortly afterwards a car was found on fire on O’Curry Road in the Tenters area of the south inner-city not far from where the shooting took place.
The scene of the attack has been preserved for a technical examination and the State Pathologists office has been notified.
Gardaí in Kevin Street have launched a murder inquiry.
They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has information about the attack to contact them.
It is the 2nd shooting believed to have gangland affiliations here in less than 24 hours.
A man aged in his 20s was shot at around 8.30am this morning in Co. Laois.
He was killed at Kilnacourt Woods Housing Estate in Portarlington.
He was rushed to Tullamore General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
It is reported that victim was well known to Gardaí in both Laois and Dublin.
