A man is in a serious condition after being shot in the Lucan area of Dublin.

It happened at Griffeen Glen Park at 1.50pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Gardaí are currently at the scene.

A man aged in his early 40s was shot a number of times while in his car.

He has been removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.

The road is currently closed and the scene has been preserved.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
