A man in his 50s has received severe head injuries in an attack in County Cork.

Gardaí said the alleged assault happened at around 10pm on the Main Street of Carrigaline on Friday night.

He was treated by Paramedics at the scene and brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
