A man in his 50s is in a critical condition in hospital after an assault in Mullingar.
At 1.40am on Sunday, Gardaí were alerted to a disturbance on Patrick’s Street in the town between two men and one had to be removed from the area by ambulance.
He was taken to Regional Hospital Mullingar but was subsequently transferred to Dublin's Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone around Patrick Street between 1 and 2am on Sunday who may have video footage to get in touch with them.
