A man is due in court this morning charged in connection with a number of burglaries in Mullingar yesterday evening as well as incidents of dangerous driving in Naas in Co. Kildare.

At least five houses were broken into in Mullingar between 5 and 6pm. A black Saab car was seen leaving the break-ins and at around 9pm last night and a similar car was seen in the Naas area.

Gardai tried to intercept the car which crashed in Sallins. One man was arrested at the scene and gardai believe two other men may have escaped.

Items of property were also found in the car. The man (21) is due before Naas District Court later today.
