A man has been stabbed to death at an apartment complex in County Tipperary.

Gardaí said the man was stabbed during an alleged assault at the complex in the North Quay area of the Carrick-On-Suir at around 11:30pm.

He was taken to Waterford University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A post-mortem is due to take place last today.

A man in his 40s has been arrested and is being held at Clonmel Garda Station.

Gardai are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
