A man has died in an aircraft crash in County Clare.

Gardaí said the motor propelled glider came down near Miltown Malbay yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services, including the National Ambulance Service and fire and rescue crews were called to the scene; however, the man was declared dead.

The scene has been preserved and the Air Accident Investigation Unit has been called in.

Inspectors are expected to arrive later today.
