A man who was assaulted in Cork over the weekend has died in hospital.
57-year-old Patsy Deasy was injured during a row outside a pub early on Saturday.
He had been socialising at the Red Cove Inn in Mahon when a row reportedly broke out outside.
He is believed to have been assaulted and then hit his head off the ground.
Mr. Deasy was taken to Cork University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
However he died this lunchtime from his injuries.
A post mortem is due to be carried out on his body.
Gardaí in Blackrock are appealing for witnesses.
In particular they are looking to speak to anyone who was outside the pub at around 1am on Saturday and saw the incident to come forward.
