An 18-year-old man has died following a crash in county Longford last night.

The male was the front seat passenger of a car that collided with a tractor on the N4 at Cloonart, Bornacoola, at about 23.50pm.

The driver and other two occupants of the car were brought to Mullingar Hospital following the incident.

One of the passengers is in a serious condition, while the driver and another passenger have minor injuries. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
