A man has died in a crash on the N24 near Clonmel in County Tipperary.

Gardaí said the man in his 50s was fatally injured after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle at around 11pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to South Tipperary General Hospital for a post-mortem.

The driver of the other car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road remains closed this morning as Gardaí carry out a forensic investigation.

Diversions are in place.
