A man has died after a suspected stabbing at a house in County Clare.

Gardaí said the man, aged in his early 30s, was seriously injured in an incident involving two men at a house on Gordon Drive in Ennis at around 3pm this afternoon.

He died in an ambulance after emergency services arrived.

His body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster will carry out a post mortem examination tomorrow morning.

A man in his late 30s was later arrested and taken to Ennis Garda Station where he is currently being held.

Instigators are appealing to anyone who was in the Cloughleigh Estate or Gordon Drive area between 2:30pm and 3:30pm this afternoon and can help with the investigation to contact them.

They are also interested in talking to drivers who may have dash-cam footage that could help the investigation.

The scene has been preserved and a technical examination is being carried out.

The Garda investigation is continuing.
