The 39-year-old father of one was shot in the chest at around 10.30pm and was pronounced dead in Tallaght Hospital a short time later. A burning car was found near the scene and detectives believe it may have been used in the shooting.

A number of cars in the area have been sealed off

Several other cars within the victim's estate are also being examined and a post mortem is already underway. In the meantime, gardai are asking anyone with information to contact Clondalkin garda station or the Garda Confidential Line.

Garda Superintendent David Taylor says they are eager to speak to anyone who may have seen this car in the area.
