A man is due in court today after a man was stabbed to death on O’Connell Street in Dublin earlier this week.

39-year-old Peter Donnelly from Kilkenny died in hospital after receiving multiple stab wounds in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A 28-year-old man was arrested nearby a short time later.

He is due to appear at Dublin District Court this morning charged in connection with the case.

A large section of O'Connell Street was closed throughout the morning and early afternoon on Tuesday as Gardaí investigated the death.
