A man is due in court this evening after Gardaí seized a gun during a high-speed car chase through housing estates in Limerick city.

Officers chased the car through estates in the Ballynanty area of the city shortly before midnight on Thursday.

The driver eventually came to a stop in Parteen, County Clare.

Gardaí said a gun and a “number of rounds” of ammunition were thrown from the car during the chase.

A man in his 30s was arrested and brought to Henry Street Garda Station.

He has now been charged and is due before a special sitting of Nenagh District Court this evening.
