A man is due in court this afternoon in connection with a serious assault on a woman in County Wicklow over the weekend.

Gardaí said the woman, aged in her 30s, suffered serious injuries in the incident at a house Arklow in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin with serious injuries and her condition was described as critical.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s on Saturday evening.

He is due before Bray district Court this afternoon.
