A man has been arrested after a woman was left with serious injuries following an assault in Dublin city centre.
Gardaí are investigating the incident at an apartment on Parnell Street at around 2:45am on Thursday.
It is reported that a man aged in his 30s assaulted a woman in her 30s.
The man left the apartment and allegedly damaged a car in the area.
He then fled the scene and was caught by Gardaí soon afterwards on Parnell Street.
He was taken to Mountjoy Garda station, where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The woman was taken to the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.
Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
