A man in his 30s has been arrested for hijacking a car and attempting to flee in Clondalkin, Co Dublin.

Gardaí first received reports around 9pm last night of a man unsuccessfully attempting to hijack a car on the R136 at Grange Castle Road.

The man then approached another car, forced the owner out of the car and drove away.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the hijacking incidents to come forward.

They are particularly interested in anyone with dashcam footage who was in the area around 9pm last night.
