Two people have died following a house fire in County Roscommon in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services are alerted to the fire at around 2am.

Three units of the fire brigade tackled the blaze at Gurth near Ballinasloe.

Gardaí say the bodies of a man and a woman - both aged in their 50s - have since been removed from the scene.

Emergency services remain at the scene this morning.
