A man and a woman have died following separate crashes in Tipperary and Offaly.

The Tipperary crash happened between Clonmel and Carrick on Suir at 6:15pm yesterday evening, at Deerpark on the outskirts of Carrick on Suir.

A man in his late 40s was injured when his motorbike collided with a car.

He was pronounced at the scene, and his body has been taken to the mortuary at Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.

The woman who was driving the car was not injured.

The road where the crash happened has been closed off for a forensic examination, with diversions in place.

Anyone with information about the crash is being asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 6177640.

The second crash happened at Muinagh on the Clara Road just outside Tullamore at around 12:10am this morning.

A 38-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when she was hit by a car.

She was taken to Tullamore General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

A 36-year-old man who was driving the car was also taken to hospital for treatment, but his condition is not believed to be serious.

A forensic examination is taking place at the scene, with the road closed and diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who travelled on the road between 11:50pm and 12:20am last night to contact them at Tullamore Garda Station on 057 9327600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
