A man in his 40s has died following a single-vehicle crash in Abbeydorney, Co Kerry, last night. 

Gardaí said the incident happened at Aulaneduff at roughly 9.15pm. 

The driver was fatally injured when the car overturned on the road. 

His body remains at the scene of the crash but will be removed and brought to University Hospital Kerry for a postmortem examination. 

A woman in her 30s was also in the car and was brought to University Hospital Kerry for injuries which are believed to be non-life threatening. 

The road at Aulaneduff, Abbeydorney is currently closed pending a technical examination. 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.     

They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage.
