An 18-year-old man has been killed in a car crash in Cavan.

It happened at Ballyhaise at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

He was the front seat passenger in the car which collided with a ditch.

The young man died at the scene.

The driver and another passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road is closed and a forensic examination is taking place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
