Steven Avery, the subject of hit documentary series Making a Murderer, has sent a note from prison to supporters who believe in his innocence.
Avery was convicted for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005 along with then teenager Brendan Dassey, but many who have watched the series believe they were was unfairly treated by the Manitowoc County sheriff's department.
In the note, Avery maintains his innocence and reiterates his desire to have "every forensic test possible done".
Petitions to free Avery have received over 500,000 signatures, with one calling the convictions a "black mark on the justice system as a whole".

Speaking to Newstalk, Avery's lawyer during the trial Jerry Burting said that that there were other suspects who had motive and opportunity to kill Teresa Halbach but that the evidence pointing to that had been disallowed at the trial "because [the judge] said that unless we could prove that these other suspects had a motive, to kill Teresa Halbach that we were not allowed to do that".
